ADMINISTRATIVE
We represent professionals such as dentists, orthodontists, dental surgeons, lawyers, doctors, and chartered accountants in disputes with their professional governing organizations from the time of initial complaints to any disciplinary proceedings commenced by the governing organization against the professional member.
FAMILY LAW
In our family law practice we advise clients and help negotiate domestic contracts including pre-nuptial and separation agreements. We also advise and represent our clients in divorce and other family law proceedings.
LITIGATION
Our litigation practice is broad and is particularly well suited to supporting the firm’s key practice areas. Our expertise ranges from representing large and multinational corporations and individuals’ business interests to advising contractors and homeowners, and mediating disputes between former business partners and spouses.
We are particularly adept at getting to court quickly in emergency or urgent situations to protect our clients’ commercial interests where necessary, in such matters as pending real estate transactions or potential fraudulent transactions.
Our advice and representation cover all aspects of commercial disputes, including breaches of contract, dissolution, shareholder remedies, debt collections, as well as matters related to bankruptcy and receivership.
Our extensive law practice helps owners, contractors and trades alike, effectively address development and construction issues. We also assist clients with disputes related to real estate purchase and sale agreements, environmental contamination, leases, and mortgage enforcement.
We represent clients in family law matters as noted below.
Other areas of our litigation practice include employment law issues such as wrongful dismissal, estate disputes, and property and personal injury claims. We are also available as mediators, with a view to the prompt and cost effective resolution of litigious matters.
CORPORATE AND COMMERCIAL
Our corporate and commercial clients range from privately and publicly held Canadian corporations to individual professionals, and from domestic retailers to foreign investors.
We have helped companies incorporate, amalgamate, reorganize and finance growth. In doing so we have been involved in drafting, negotiating and concluding agreements of every type. We have also been there to assist when partnerships, organizations or employment relationship have fallen apart.
In all matters, we act to help our clients deal with the applicable laws in the simplest and most efficient manner. Our litigation expertise ensures that there is a smooth transition when a commercial matter becomes litigious. At all times, our objective is to enable clients to achieve their business results with a minimum of legal complications or costs.
CONSTRUCTION
Advising corporations and individual clients on procedures for drafting construction contracts so that there is recourse against individual directors of the opposing corporations, in addition to the usual recourse to actions against the corporations and liens on the project premises. If necessary we register and proceed with construction liens and any litigation, including litigation in accordance with the Construction Lien Act.
